They say it takes 30 days to build a habit. This process involves retraining your body and mind your develop new behaviors to last a lifetime.

Many associate new habits with increasing their physical activity or reducing their sugar consumption. However, many rarely discuss how to develop mental habits.

We’re constantly fed quotes and images that say “think positively” or “no bad vibes.” While those personal mantras are beneficial on some level, retraining your mind to think positively takes more effort than just purchasing cute merchandise.

If you’re trying to retrain your brain to focus on being happy, it’s best to learn how to develop healthy habits. Consider these tips and implement them into your daily routine to notice a gradual change.

Observe Everyday Things that Make You Happy

It’s easy to go about your daily activities without paying much consideration to the things around you. If you truly want to make happiness a habit, pause for a moment each day and reflect on the things that make you happy.

In order to truly be happy, one must find some way of accommodating the reality that life is much bigger than just ourself. Enrich your spiritual side by searching for activities that engage your soul. Tapping into your spiritual self will also help you develop a higher sense of self.

Perhaps taking a trip to the beach, hiking in nature, or studying more about your religion are ways you can learn to enrich your spiritual side.
